RECONFIGURATION METHODS In this paper the transient properties of reconfigurable IIR filters are investigated using theoretical analysis and simulations. First the structure dependency of the one-step reconfiguration transients is proved, and some suitable filter structures are characterised. Next to reduce transients the multiple-step reconfiguration methods which are examined. The results can be directly utilised in reconfigurable signal processing systems. The task of the reconfiguration method is to transform the system from its old configuration to the new configuration with minimal intermediate disturbances (i.e., transients) and as soon as possible. There are several methods which can be used for parameter or structural reconfiguration. The reconfiguration can be performed in a single or multiple step. The investigated reconfiguration methods are:
